Welcome to our world!
We are Sousou & Maher Cissoko, a duo connected by music, love, and a shared journey between Sweden and Senegal. For 20 years, we have shared our music in almost 40 countries, building bridges through kora, guitar, voices, rhythm, and storytelling.
Sousou’s journey from southern Sweden led her to West Africa, where she studied the kora with masters in Gambia, Mali, and Senegal. There she met Maher, born into the world-renowned Cissoko family of griots and kora players. Together, we bring our musical roots into a sound inspired by West African traditions, reggae, folk, soul, and afrobeat.
Singing in five languages, we create music that celebrates unity, joy, and human connection. Through our concerts and our creative meeting place Jaliya Camp in Senegal, we share our passion for music and cultural exchange.
As we celebrate 20 years together in 2026/2027, we are creating our fifth album, BIMOYA (Humanity Today), set for release in 2027. Inspired by the griot tradition, the album reflects on identity, peace, resilience, and our shared humanity.
